Awareness – Total
« It was a great deployment, and the adaptability of our technical infrastructure in a strong international context was greatly appreciated. »

This game is a custom remote game that belongs to the Serious Game category of our website.
On the occasion of World Safety Day on Thursday, April 30, 2020, the HSE department wanted to make an escape game available to all Total Group entities worldwide.
The ultimate target was 1000 sites in 130 countries as well as contractors, i.e. a maximum of 200,000 people.
Idea
The original idea was to adapt an existing in-person game that had received favourable reviews. Despite the serious nature of the theme, the common thread throughout the scenario was the song “Staying Alive” by the “Bee Gees”: the participants had to retrieve fragments from the musical score while meeting challenges related to high-risk activities within the Group (Confined spaces, Lifting operations, Powered systems, Hot works, Work at height) The platform was based on HTML technology which made it possible to include features such as timed questions, audio files and touch animations. The game players were completely autonomous and did not require any Game Leaders or assistance of any kind. It could be played individually or as a group, in French or in English
Goals
Understand the issues of the 5 fatal risks to better anticipate them and control them. Foster communication, team spirit and Group values. As the game could be accessed from anywhere in the world, it had to be user-friendly, compatible with many platforms and able to support a very heavy load, even more so as the health crisis called for 100% remote deployment.
Challenges
Outcome
800 individual or group sessions were listed when the game was made available.
