It was really a great way to tackle some profound changes. The activity was well received, but more importantly, it generated more impact than a conventional meeting.

Requirement

EDF wanted to bring important changes in regards to the way HR management was performed, as part of the restructuring which equally concerned internal mobility, management of individual interviews and e-learning. The group wanted to implement changes in respect to societal dynamics, share some examples of practices, and first and foremost, partner with 220 HRD in order to find the preferred method to integrate these practices.

Idea

An Escape Game based on a disappearance plot, for 220 HRD of the group.

“Wattson, a distant cousin of Sherlock Holmes’ assistant, works for EDF. A seasoned consultant, he’s brought in to investigate HR practices. He suddenly disappears as he’s in the process of bringing important changes to these practices. The only clue is a mysterious locked suitcase, found in his office.”

Participants had to pool their ideas in order to expose the mystery, and develop an action plan targeting HR practices related to mobility, personal interviews and e-learning. Along the way, topics such as resistance to change or major societal trends were discussed.

The Escape Game was not only created to raise awareness of new HR practices, but also to reflect on these practices, while at the same time identifying a pragmatic action plan.

Objectives

Raise awareness of the different practices of HR services
Reflect on these practices

Results

The activity was much appreciated, and clearly had more impact than a typical plenary.
Having integrated within the escape game specific elements on the changes that were going to take place within the division allowed a better appropriation of these changes by the entire HR department.
